Here is a snapshot of our adoptable horses. Each one has a picture folder under the Adoptable Horses tab but here is a quick description of each. Please note that this page will change as we do evaluations and our volunteers share their experiences. Enjoy
King-broke to ride
King is a 12 year old QH gelding, 15H, easy keeper. Has a parrot mouth. Gets along well in herd. Rode through the auction W/T/C. Very sweet and people oriented. Sound, no vices, good for farrier, vet. $500 with two year contract.
Volunteer Evaluation with King
I got on him in a 30 acre field, 25 mile an hour winds with a friend galloping around on another horse. King hadn't been ridden in 4 months and wasn't longed first. He was cold-backed and tense. Would have probably bucked had I given him the chance. His next ride in the indoor after longeing went very well!

We rode King inside and he was wonderful. I do believe that he will do best with a bitless bridle but he did what he was asked. He lounges wonderfully! we even put boots on him. Although he looked a little silly, he handled them with no problems. Hes a tall boy and will be a beauty to show.

Opal-broke to ride
Opal loves the water! She requires a confident rider to feed off of (due to partial blindness in one eye), and should wear her protective mask when out to pasture. She has been to a few speed shows and many trail rides, including Caroline's Colorama and High Cliff State Park. She has also parked cars at a local fair. She's about 14.3 hh and roughly 5 years old (Grade QH). She is great in a stall or all year turnout - right now she looks like an albino wooly mammoth. Great with farrier, great with the vet, ties, clips, loads, and takes wormer like a champ. She just needs that knowledgeable and patient person. We have ridden her in open fields out at the rescue and inside as well. Her eye has no effect on her riding. She handles everything very well. $550 with two year contract.
Volunteer evaluations with Opal
Opal was saddled and ridden without any trouble, she stood quiet, picked up her feet let us place the saddle on and didnt even move a muscle. We then got on her without knowing how long it had been since she was ridden or what kind of bit she was used to. She walked, trotted and cantered. The best part about the whole day was we took her in an open field and she did EVERYTHING we asked her to do. She never spooked! Once the ride was over she stood with our volunteer as she filled out the paperwork. She is a sweet and quiet horse. She is going to make someone very happy whether they show or need a trial horse, this girl is IT!

Pearl-Barrel Racer-broke to ride
Pearl is a stocky, 15H, 20+ yr old mare. Purchased from Camelot as the last girl standing. Is turning out to be a hard keeper. Camelot reported she has a room full of barrel racing trophies. Very mellow, likes people, good in the herd. $350 with two year contract.
Pandora-broke to ride
Pandora is a 15.1H, 11 year old mare. Hard keeper. Is the mare on the back page of the Horses and Hope Calendar by Sarah Andrews with her ears pinned. She'll pin her ears at other horses, but is very sweet with people. I have not seen her kick out at another horse, though. Broke to ride. $450 with a two year contract.
UPDATE: Pandora had a beautiful Appaloosa colt that was found dead in her stall on Friday, February 27, 2012. She is drying up and recovering well. She will be available for adoption in April.

This is a wonderful mare, stood, let us pick her feet, enjoyed a good brushing and went for a walk in an open field with no problems. She is a great size and will be a wonderful show horse or trail horse. Lee Kincaid
