These horses will remain at the rescue for the rest of their days. The all have special needs and have been chosen as pasture buddies only. Each one needs sponsorship to assist with their care. Sponsor only horses are looking for daily, weekly or monthly sponsors. They range from $5/day to $8/day for feed, supplements, deworming, teeth, shots, farrier and shavings...
Rocket
This is Rocket, a 30 year old Gelding I got from Camelot in June of last year. He is very sweet. He maintains weight well everywhere except his spine and croup. I've had him looked at by a physical therapist who feels that the pattern of his muscle loss is due to a past injury since he's so well filled out every where else. he is retired and loving the pasture. He's not crazy about being in a stall.
Honey
Honey was my first rescue. One day I was looking at my two empty stalls and decided to give one to a retirement horse. So I looked on Dreamhorse.com for Free horses and saw Honey. She was saved from slaughter by a woman in IL for $50. She had pictures of children hanging off her neck. I went and got her. She is a very hardkeeper and needs to be on Equine senior in addition to hay. $100/mont...h would cover a good portion of Honey's feed bill.
Grey
Gray is an aged mare that will live out her life here. Due to unknown past experiences she has phobias that make her unsuitable for more than a pasture horse. She holds her weight well on hay only outside. At $3/bale/day for her, her monthly bill for feed only is $90. Would someone please consider taking Gray under their wing and provide her with a secure retirement?
